Hi guys!
Wanted to take a moment and announce a brand new contest this month. We've paired up with our good friends at BG France to giveaway FOUR brand new Duo Alto Sax Ligatures!!! We're giving away one of each finish: Silver Plate, Gold Lacquer, Gold Plate, and Rose Gold. NOTE: These ligatures are made to fit Hard Rubber mouthpieces for Alto Saxophone.
How do you enter? You'll have to view this video on Youtube and complete the following steps:
- Subscribe to the Saxophone Central Youtube Channel.

- Subscribe to the BG France Youtube Channel.
A little bit about the BG Duo Ligatures:
BG's Duo Ligatures- available for Soprano, Alto, and Tenor- are the flagship ligature for BG, known worldwide by saxophonists for product quality.
The BG Duo is the full package when it comes to ligatures. It's advertised on their website as having centered and stable intonation in all registers, precise articulation, unprecedented flexibility, minimum contact for maximum vibrations- and I can't disagree with any of that. This ligature performs to the full extent of its abilities.
Crystal-clear sound, flexibility, and stable intonation all in one package.
Previously, we had a contest in January/February where we gave away cleaning/care kits from BG and I wanted to recognize the winners from Instagram:
- Ralph_Polak
- richardsonmusic
- cam_vinson
- thatonealtoclarinet
- erikgl_sax
- andisaxophone
- noshpirkle
It gives me a lot of joy to work with the fine people at BG who have been instrumental in helping us get SaxophoneCentral.com off the ground! It also helps that BG makes some seriously high-quality saxophone accessory products that sound good AND look good. These are products I've trusted as a player throughout my professional playing life.
Updates for March 2020
Although we're in the middle of a bit of a planned content break, we've actually been working super hard testing a lot of new products.
Over the last few weeks, I've been testing the new Theo Wanne Shiva 3 Tenor mouthpiece (metal), Theo Wanne Durga 3 Alto mouthpiece (metal), and Theo Wanne Earth Alto mouthpiece (HR) while I've been running around the UK and Japan.
Adrian's been testing out the DaCarbo Carbon Fiber Alto Saxophone Neck, a few Theo Wanne products, and some new microphones built for saxophones which came out at the NAMM show in January.
Tristan is preparing to start testing a few different Jody Jazz mouthpieces for alto and tenor saxophone, and he's working on a comparison of saxophone reeds.
Needless to say, there's a lot of new content coming and I'm positive that we'll be adding a lot of products to this list over the next few months! As always, we're looking for new ways to show you products that we feel are top-quality, reliable, and trustworthy. We've already had a lot of products that didn't make it onto this site. If we don't think its quality, it doesn't end up here. As always, please contact us through the contact portion at the bottom of this site and let us know which gear you're most interested in us reviewing!
