Theo's Gaia mouthpieces have been popular with players for quite some time. For Soprano, Alto, and Tenor, this is one of the sweetest-sounding dark mouthpieces in the line of many great mouthpieces. With very little baffle, Wanne has made a mouthpiece that makes getting a beautifully dark sound an easy thing. What makes the Gaia different from other mouthpieces? This mouthpiece is built around a true Large Chamber design coupled with a low baffle, and was conceptualized following decades of research of some of the most sought-after mouthpieces that are similar in style and tone to the Gaia. This mouthpiece has a very vintage sound, and will appeal to players who loved the gear of the 30s-60s.
A sweet, warm-sounding mouthpiece
While playing this mouthpiece, it's so easy to play through every tonality (which is typical for all Theo Wanne mouthpieces). Soft to loud, dark to edgy, this mouthpieces makes it really easy to get my ideal soprano sound. It's a very warm-sounding mouthpiece that has such a beautiful tonal range, and it's very even-sounding across all ranges of the instrument. The Gaia 2 Soprano mouthpiece is a wonderful investment for any soprano player. Each mouthpiece is made with a premium hard rubber, and comes with Theo's "Enlightened" ligature, a cap, and a bite pad, and they come presented in a leather carrying case.

Shaping your tone
The Gaia 2 comes with the "Liberty" ligature, which is a unique low-point-of-contact ligature which allows you to change its' plates out in order to sculpt your sound a little more. Although the mouthpiece comes with a gold plate, there are four more available which have different characteristics to each of them.
Also included with the Gaia 2 are the usual run of Theo Wanne accessories: A mouthpiece cap, a bite pad, a screwdriver for ligature adjustment, and the it all comes presented in a leather carrying case.
Want my thoughts?
One thing I often notice in a lot of dark-playing mouthpieces is that they tend to have a bit more air resistance when I'm blowing. Why? See, I'm used to higher baffle products where airflow is (generally speaking) a bit easier. With the Gaia, I can get a beautiful and dark soprano saxophone tone without having to work as hard as I would with similar mouthpieces from other companies. I also get a very big sound out of this. Why? It's a true Large Chamber mouthpiece.
This mouthpiece has such a sweet sound to it, and I'm glad I found it. I probably spent more time looking for the right soprano mouthpiece than I did for mouthpieces on an other saxophone. I've got two versions of the Gaia- version one and version two. Although the differences are slight, the Gaia 2 has a more focused core of sound although the tone has stayed basically the same. When I describe the Gaia 2 to other previous Gaia 1 owners, I always tell them that Theo took the same great principles of sound from V1 and made it even easier to get a great soprano sound with V2.
